Thebaid Intro and Book 1
Give brief introductory lecture with cloze notes sheet
Show Aeneid 1.1-11 and then translate Thebaid 1.17 (students translate lines 1-6, 7-17 translate together)
Next, look at the council of the gods in Thebaid 1.197-247 (students translate 201-205, and the rest we look at together)
Compare with Jupiter's depiction in the Aeneid (especially in relation to Venus)
