Friday
Start Up: translate the captions (powerpoint of model sentences for St. 31, BUT skip the versions that include the ablative absolute); great chance to make good educated guesses on vocabulary
As we go through the meanings of the sentences, pass by the ablative absolute one, but make increasingly specific comments about how it is rephrasing the longer version which we are currently reading.
On the last slide, there is omni pecunia consumpta... scaffold this and make comment on what case each word is.
Now, go back and take a look at the ablative absolute sentences and lead them through their meanings
When finished with this, pass out "Tour of Rome" group project and explain
Allow last 10-15 minutes for kids to get in groups and plan logistics
Homework: none (extra credit due Monday)
