Monday
SALVETE! Today is mostly ASYNCHRONOUS!
(1) 
Read the attached scan of The Venus Throw, Ch. 21 by Steven Saylor.  You can also listen to my reading of it as well (see the attached MP3 file).
(2) Take notes on the characters as you read and then complete the Buzz quiz.
(3) Read the attached scan of Carmina 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 (in English).  
(4) Take the Buzz quiz over your impressions of Catullus, "Lesbia," and their relationship as Catullus portrays it in Carmina 2, 3, 5, 7, 8.
*note that this Buzz quiz will allow you to save and continue your attempt, so if you do not finish it by the end of class, save your progress and continue tomorrow in class.

*Caveat: You need to have your parent's/guardian's permission if you intend to purchase The Venus Throw, as it contains adult material
lecture on life of Catullus and Clodia (using notes from Wiseman) - again, get then excited about the content
You may wish to have a sneak peak of our Tri3 Catullus projectTaylor Swift is the modern Catullus: Fight me (see attached... ignore the deadlines as stated in the doc).  This year's deadline is (tentatively) April 23rd.  I will provide April 19th-22nd in class to prepare your presentation.  You will present April 23rd, 26th-29th.


Tuesday
SALVETE! Today's class will be (mostly) ASYNCHRONOUS!
(1) Finish your reading and the Buzz Quiz for Carmina 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 (if needed)
(2) Read (and/or listen with the attached MP3 file) to Chapter 5 ("Lesbia Illa") from T.P. Wiseman's Catullus and his World.
(3) Complete the Buzz Quiz for "Lesbia Illa."


Wednesday
SALVETE! Today's class will be SYNCHRONOUS!
(1) 
We will have a class discussion about Catullus, Clodia, and their relationship.
(2) You will take this Gimkit to familiarize yourself with the vocabulary of Carmen 1 (Catullus' introduction and dedication for his Carmina).
(3) Download the text scan of Love and Betrayal: Selections from Catullus.
(4) Download the student text of Catullus' Carmina (MS Word and/or PDF).
(5) While listening to the Carmen 1 recitation, open this SurveyMonkey and follow the directions.  
(6) We will begin reading Carmen 1.


Thursday
SALVETE! Today's class will be SYNCHRONOUS!
(1) 
Take this Gimkit to familiarize yourself with the vocabulary of Carmen 1 (Catullus' introduction and dedication for his Carmina).
(2) While listening to the Carmen 1 recitation, open this SurveyMonkey and follow the directions.  
(3) We will read Carmen 1.
(a) have your Catullus' Carmina lines printed out so you can write on them
(b) have your copy of the Catullus text scan open (either on computer or printed out) to reference
(c) Remember that you can always review your translation via my YouTube channel.

Today you'll read Aeneid 1 and respond to the attached doc. Attach your completed doc to this Assignment.
