12th Grade Capstone Latin - Week 1 < Week 2 > Week 3

Monday
Translate the selection from de Bello Civili 1.7 (attached to yesterday's lesson) and be prepared to read together at the beginning of class on Monday.
We will read the selection from de Bello Civili 1.7 about Caesar's speech to his soldiers (I've attached it again for you if needed).
The rest of class will be devoted to developing vocabulary for your narratio on Wednesday.
There's no need to try and make your vocabulary any more complicated/advanced than last time.
Remember that the objective is clarity and comprehensibility.
You will sign up for a tutorial time slot with this Google Doc.

Tuesday
Narratio development
When shaping the vocabulary you developed yesterday, here are some helpful phrasings you should try to include:
temptat/temptant + infinitive (ex. temptat fabulam narrare = "She is trying to tell a story.")
potest/possunt + infinitive (ex. potest fabulam narrare = "He can/is able to tell a story.")
vult/volunt + infinitive (ex. vult fabulam narrare = "She wants to tell a story.")
non vult/nolunt + infinitive (ex. non vult fabulam narrare = "He doesn't want to tell a story.")
necesse est + dative + infinitive (ex. necesse est mihi fabulam narrare = "I need to tell a story.")

Wednesday
Narrationes!
At the end of class, we will discuss your tutorials.  You will sign up for a time with this Google Doc.
Remember that your tutorial should be:
(1) about a topic related to Latin/Classics you want to know more about
(2) 10-15 minutes in length
(3) include some sort of interactive element to engage your audience
(4) brief question and answer session after your presentation
Thursday's and Friday's classes will be spent researching and creating your presentation.  You will most likely need to use part of the weekend as well.
